GHB (Gamma‑hydroxybutyric acid)

An odorless and nearly tasteless drug, popular among kids and commonly used at raves or parties. It is derived from a chemical used in electrical circuit board cleaner. It's often combined with ecstasy. It comes in a clear liquid, white powder, tablet or capsule, and is ingested.

Possible Positives

  • Has been used by body builders to stimulate muscle growth.
  • Induces a relaxed high starting after 5 to 20 minutes and lasting up to 4 hours.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Liver failure
  • Suffocation
  • Tremors and shaking
  • Seizures
  • Comas
  • Death
  • Up to 20 years of prison for possession, manufacturing, or distribution
  • GHB has been used in cases of date rape.
